Led by Uttiya Bhattacharya,CGM, officials from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. met Pu Zoramthanga, Chief Minister at his office yesterday, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Pu K. Lalrinliana, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department.

At the meeting, the Chief Minister told the IOCL officials that since Mizoram is located in a tri-junction area surrounded by two foreign countries-Myanmar and Bangladesh, accessibility is more difficult compared to other states in the region, due to this security and storage of essential commodities is utmost importance to the people of Mizoram, he said that even though the introduction of broad gauge rail line and the government’s tireless effort to improve road conditions boosted this, a lot is still need to be done and told the IOCL officials he will give full support if they wanted to contribute to this. He also requested them to start construction of oil depot and gas bottling plant at Bairabi as soon as possible.

Pu Uttiya Bhatacharya, CGM, IOCL  also told the Chief Minister that Mizoram is a priority state for them and they are trying their best to improve supply of gas cylinders to the state. He also requested the people of Mizoram to trust them and said that in order to improve storage, the abandoned Vairengte oil depot will be restored and renovated until a new oil depot is constructed.
