IWRD Minister Pu C.Lalrinsanga inaugurates in-house training under NHP

Irrigation Minister Pu C.Lalrinsanga today inaugurated a two day in-house training for Irrigation and Water Resources Department (IWRD) technical staff under National Hydrology Project (NHP) on efficient irrigation and water management practices at IWRD office, MINECO.

The Minister lauded the efforts of the IWRD Department in various parts of Mizoram to improve self-sufficiency in agriculture and its allied activities despite shortage of staff. He reiterated the need for a systemic integrated approach to double farmers’ income, where the department has a crucial role to play. The Mizoram Water Policy recently approved by the State’s Cabinet intended to address management of water resources, irrigation system, provide proper framework for regulatory measures etc. will open a new chapter for the department and for the agrarian sector in Mizoram, the Minister added.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Er.Lalrotluanga, Chief Engineer, IWRD.
