Dated Khawzawl, the 2nd October, 2026: The concluding programme of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, the nationwide cleanliness campaign, and Swachh Bharat Diwas 2026 was held today at the DC Conference Hall, Khawzawl, in the presence of Khawzawl Deputy Commissioner Pu K. Vanlalthiana. The programme was chaired by Pu Liantluanga Chohte, Sr. Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Khawzawl WATSAN Division.

Addressing the gathering, Khawzawl DC Pu K. Vanlalthiana called upon the participants to strive towards making Khawzawl District a leading district in Mizoram in terms of cleanliness and sanitation. He emphasised that, apart from keeping our surroundings clean, it is equally important to maintain cleanliness of mind, refrain from corruption and ensure that our hands remain clean and committed to public service.

On the occasion, Pu TC Lalhmachhuana, District Coordinator, PHED Khawzawl, presented a report through a PowerPoint presentation on the activities undertaken under Swachh Bharat Mission–Grameen during Swachhata Hi Seva 2026. Door-to-door awareness activities on cleanliness and waste management were conducted, along with cleanliness drives and Safai Mitra Free Health Check-ups. Today, awareness programmes on segregation of waste into four categories as prescribed under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026 and rainwater harvesting, were also conducted in all Village Councils through Special Gram Sabhas.

Pu B. Lalhmangaihtluanga, Inspector of Sanitation, Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA), also presented the activities undertaken under Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban through a PowerPoint presentation. On 9 September 2026, cleanliness drives were conducted in all Village Councils within Khawzawl town, along with Safai Mitra Free Health Check-ups and intensive IEC campaigns. On 1 October 2026, the ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ cleanliness drive was conducted across various locations, with the participation of government officials, Village Council leaders and school students.

As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, cleanliness competitions were conducted in Khawzawl. The winners were:
