Air Marshal KK Nohwar, PVSM, VM, AOC-in-C, Eastern Command of the Indian Air Force called on the Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla at his bungalow today soon after landing at the Lengpui airport by IAF aircraft.

Air Marshal KK Nohwar apprised the Chief Minister that the propose site for the installation of the Surveillance Radar at Zokhawtlang in southern Mizoram would be facilitated with schools, canteen, recreation centres and many more amenities which even the local people could make use of it. Air Marshal also conveyed to the Chief Minister the Indian Air Force's desire to station at least 4 jet fighters at Lengpui airport for which suitable land be provided to the west of the runway for construction of 4 'Blastpan' - a hanger, each 35 by 25 meters in size, of solid cement concrete. The Chief Minister affirmed that no hurdles would be made by the Mizoram Government in this venture and would extend all possible helping hand on the matter, he added. On the contrary, Pu Lal Thanhawla expressed with delight that the Mizoram government would leave no stone unturn in its efforts toward strengthening the Indian defense, if at all it can play a role in the defence sector.

Air Marshal was accompanied by Wing Commander SM Chaudhury. The Chief Minister on the other hand was accompanied by his wife Pi Lal Riliani, Wing Comd(Rtd) Lalzawma,Principal Consultant, Civil Aviation and Pu RL Rinawma, Commissioner/ Secretary to GOM.
