Arecanut Moulding Machine, which was received by Kawnpui Women Farmers’ Club under Tribal Sub Plan through the initiatives taken by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib was inaugurated at KWFC Godown, Kawnpui by Sangchhin Chinzah, Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib district.

On her inaugural speech, Sangchhin Chinzah emphasized on the important role played by women in raising a family, the need to teach and impart high moral values to their children as they are our future. She also spoke on the need to know and understand their capabilities and limitation in order to move ahead as a women farmers’ club.

The inaugural program was chaired by R Lalbiakdiki, Chief Volunteer, KWFC highlighting some of their club activities such as candle and Pickle making, poultry farming and planting and selling of Mushroom. I Shakuntala, Joint Director, ICAR Kolasib pointed out that the Areca nut moulding machines for making biodegradable plates will play an important role in minimizing the used of disposable plastic plates and at the same time will be a good income generation for the womens’ club since Kolasib district have plenty of Areca nut plantation.
