Kolasib dated 30th March 2021: Minister K.Lalrinliana inaugurated Panchayat Bhawan, constructed under Rastriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan at Electric Veng, Kolasib today.

The Local Administration Department Minister in his inaugural speech emphasized on the importance of being self-sufficient in food grains, among other things, especially in times of the covid19 pandemic. Mr.K.Lalrinliana also pointed out that Village Councils are the foundation of local self-government, which is in turn the foundation of democracy, and he therefore urged the members of the Village Council to make use of the Panchayat Bhawan as an instrument to strengthen democracy from the grass-root level.

The newly inaugurated Electric Veng Panchayat Bhawan, Kolasib was constructed under RGSA, with a total expenditure of Rs.20 lakhs. The function was attended by Mr. Lalchawimawia, Joint Director, LAD, Mr. S.T.Lalhmingmawia, DLAO, Heads of Offices of various government departments in Kolasib district, the Kolasib Town Joint Village Council Members and representatives from different NGOs.
