Launching cum Media Briefing on Electors Verification Programme (EVP) was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall kolasib where the launching was done by Kolasib Addl DEO Pu Liansangzuala Chhakchhuak.

During the session the objectives of the EVP were highlighted that its main purpose was  To verify elector’s details and indicate corrections in details, if any, including Photograph and authentication of entry, to obtain details of family members and verifying their entries - report Un-enrolled/ shifted/ dead and prospective electors in the family, to obtain contact details/ GIS Coordinates (With Smart Phone) to provide better Electoral Services, to obtain inputs about existing/ probable Polling Stations, to improve health of electoral Roll and to improve delivery of electoral services.

Pu Liansangzuala stated that EVP is a Citizen friendly Approach taken up the Election Commission of India wherein the Citizens are empowered to verify whether the particulars entered/shown in the electoral roll is correct or not. If any errors are found the Citizens can by themselves or through the help of Common Service Centres and Booth Level officers (BLOs) apply for correction which shall be done through Voters Helpline App or National Service Portal i.e. ‘nvsp.in’, By visiting Common Service Centres (CSCs), by visiting voter facilitation centre at AERO Office and PwD electors may call Voter helpline (1950) seeking facilitation.  Addl DEO further stated that the empowerment of the citizens through this approach needs to be widely publicized so that it may reach the target population wherein the Role of the Media becomes very important and thus requests for coordination from the media section.

The Launching programme was attended by media persons, NGOs and BLOs from Kolasib Town.
