In observance and inauguration of the Children's Week, 2019, Lawngtlai District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) organised a mini marathon race for children this morning.
The mini marathon was organised in four categories, namely, 10-14 years old boys, 10-14 years old girls, 15-17 years old boys, and 15-17 years old girls. The participants raced from 71 RCC in the outskirt of Lawngtlai town upto Areopagy at Lawngtlai Bazar Veng.
District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Pi Mary Lalremruati had an inaugural speech at 71 RCC and flagged off the marathonists. In the closing function organised at Areopagy, Lawngtlai Sub-Deputy Commissioner Pu Vabeimozachhi Chozah had a speech on HIMNA-MADAT Project for awareness of children to keep away from drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Protection Officer (Non-Institutional Care) Pi H. Zohlimpuii Hmar carried out a prize distribution and Protection Officer (Institutional Care) Pi PC Malsawmtluangi proposed a vote of thanks.
In the 10-14 years old girls category, Christina Lalzawmpuii finished first followed by Jessica Chanchinmawii and Genevi Lalnunmawii. Andria Vanlalhmana was the winner of the 10-14 years old boys category, followed by Reuben Ramdanfela and Lalthanmawia. In the 15-17 years old girls category, Nancy Lawmsangzuali was the winner while Lalrinfeli was the runner up. Reubena topped the 15-17 years old boys category followed by N. Lalduhmawia and Eliza Lalhmingliana. First prize winners received Rs 1,000/-, second Rs 700/- and third Rs 500/- in each category.
