Lawngtlai, the 29th April, 2020: As the state government of Mizoram has decided to facilitate the return of residents of Mizoram stranded in the northeast states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura due to COVID-19 lockdown, the concerned authorities of Lawngtlai District under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pi Shashanka Ala, IAS held a meeting today at the DC's office chamber and made necessary arrangements for receiving residents of Lawngtlai District.

As of now, there are 49 residents of Lawngtlai District reported to be returning from these four states. These returnees will be received and screened using rapid test kits for COVID-19 at the district headquarters and will be quarantined at the designated quarantine facility in the district headquarters for 14 days.

It was decided to make arrangements to accommodate 55 persons at the quarantine facility in Lawngtlai for the time being. All necessary arrangements for food, lodging and other requirements have also been made.

As per state government instruction, the exercise may commence from 30.04.2020 and shall be completed not later than 02.05.2020.
