The office bearers of Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) today interacted with the Hon’ble Governor Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan at Raj Bhavan.
The leaders of CYMA highlighted the numerous activities taken up by the organisation in the society. They said that there has been rising number of drug users amongst the youth during the recent years and suggested that efforts towards skill development of the youth will keep them occupied and refrain from using drugs. They also highlighted several efforts have been made to combat smuggling of drugs including the recently formed Ruihhlo Do Core Committee under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister. They said it was high time that the central government intervene in the matter and similarly urge the Myanmar government for their cooperation towards the same. They emphasized on the need of a visit by Narcotics Control Bureau officials to take stock of the situation and also increasing the presence of military personnel along the border to check the smuggling and influx of illegal foreigners from neighbouring countries. They also underlined the need for the state to have its own register of citizens on the lines of Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) to check illegal immigrants.
The meeting also touched upon topics such as value
addition of agriculture produce, cold chain management, preservation of the
pristine nature and waste management.
