In a meeting chaired by Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana and Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana, it was decided that lockdown within the AMC area will not be extended beyond 9th November, 4:30 am. However, COVID-19 No Tolerance Fortnight will be strictly enforced from 9th November to 23rd November, 2020.
The meeting thanked the people for their cooperation during the lockdown period and appealed to the public to continue to observe all SOPs including personal hygiene and social distancing at all times.
According to the report by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), H&FW, 14,119 samples were tested since the imposition of the lockdown in Aizawl. Out of the samples tested, 510 (3.6%) positive cases were detected; 33.33% of the positive cases were asymptomatic. 14 frontline workers tested positive out of which 11 were symptomatic cases. During the lockdown period, positive cases were detected in 57 out of the total 85 local councils in the city.
During the month of October, 160 positive cases were detected from 25 educational institutions; 136 students, 15 teachers and 9 non-teaching staff. The total number of cases detected in October was 959 out of which 393 (40.99%) were symptomatic cases.
The capacity of various CCCs within Aizawl District is 870 beds, currently there are 322 patients admitted in the CCCs. In addition to this, 88 patients are under treatment at the dedicated COVID Hospital - Zoram Medical College (ZMC). 5 patients are currently admitted to ICU out of which 3 are on ventilator support.
