Kolasib 6th November 2020: Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department Minister K.Lalrinliana today visited Bairabi train station where the construction of ramps to receive RORO trains is being undertaken. The Minister said that utilizing the RORO train will boost the inflow of LPG, POL and other essential commodities to the state, where the conventional mode of transportation of such items had earlier been carried out only by means of road transport which was fairly more expensive.

The Supply Minister also inspected the ongoing road repair works between Bairabi and Zamuang, which is about a stretch of 27 KM. Zamuang connects to Kanhmun, bordering Damcherra of Tripura. Kanhmun and Damcherra is connected by Langkaih bridge, which is under repair and is expected to be completed within 2 weeks if all work goes as planned. The Supply Minister mentioned that once these constructions were completed, it will most likely become an important trade route for the state of Mizoram.
