Aizawl; the 12th October,2021: Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A, yesterday held a meeting at his office chamber with key stakeholders to discuss the condition of roads across Lunglei District. Present at the meeting were Lunglei Additional DC & Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA), NH-302 Pu M. Misael, Settlement Officer Pu Alan Lalthanzara and officials from PWD Road Lunglei Division, NHIDCL and SRK Construction Projects Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad, contractors for the ongoing NH 302 project.

The meeting discussed various action points needed to be taken to improve condition of roads in the District, especially along the World Bank Road (Aizawl-Thenzawl-Lunglei Road) and NH 302 - Lunglei (3-Gate) to Tlabung.

With regards to the World Bank Road (Aizawl-Thenzawl-Lunglei Road) that links southern Mizoram to the capital city Aizawl, officials of PWD Road Lunglei Division reported that the contractors currently engaged for strengthening and resurfacing of the road - Bhavya Constructions, have not been able to recruit enough manpower due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic. Work has also been delayed this year due the late onset of monsoon with rains forecasted till end of this month.

With regards to the 90.30 kms long NH 302 that runs from Lunglei (3-Gate) to Tlabung, the contrators for the project SRK Construction Projects Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad has recently commenced work, with some pending formalities to be taken care of regarding handing over of land etc.

Stating that roads are the main lifeline of the economy, especially for a landlocked state like Mizoram, Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A appealed to the stakeholders to always keep citizens’ welfare in mind, and do their utmost to improve the condition of roads in the District. He also assured them of support from the District administration, and advised them to report immediately should they face any issues while carrying out their duties.
