‘COVID - 19 No Tolerance Fortnight’ (26th October to 9th November 2020) - A Zero Tolerance Drive with an objective to break the chain of infection through strict observance of SOPS and Guidelines, commenced yesterday at Lunglei District along with the rest of the State. 

‘COVID - 19 No Tolerance Fortnight’ Banners have been put up in prominent locations along the main spine of the District capital, Lunglei town. Each locality within the District have been requested to announce Covid appropriate behavior through Public Announcement System (Tlangau) at least thrice a day. Covid-19 Executive Teams, comprising 30% of Government employees in the District have also been set up as per guidelines laid down by the DM&R Department, Government of Mizoram. 24 Covid-19 Executive Teams led by their respective Team Leaders and in partnership with Local Task Forces are on duty across the District, enforcing strict imposition of penalties as stipulated under Section 5 of the Mizoram (Containment and Prevention of the Spread of COVID- 19) Act, 2020. Eight Executive Magistrates/Incident Commanders have also been appointed to lead these Executive Teams.

Government employees in Lunglei District have also joined the nationwide ‘Jan Andolan for COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour’ launched by the Prime Minister on 8th October, 2020 by taking part in the online pledge taking. Government Departments have also taken initiatives to put up Covid Educational Posters in their office premises.

Lunglei District has so far recorded 278 Covid-19 cases with 267 patients already discharged from Covid Care Centres and 11 Active cases at present.
