A meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday (30.9.2019) at the Chief Minister's cabinet room considered important proposals submitted from 14 departments. The meeting approved proposal to enhance state contribution towards pension schemes under National Social Assistance Programme by 100%.

To enhance transparency and curb corruption, the meeting approved withholding of pay of government servants who fail to submit Annual Statement of Immovable Property Returns as on December 31st, 2019.

The meeting also approved the proposal to raise age for superannuation of Medical Doctors from current 60 to 62. The Mizoram Colleges (Provincialisation) (Amendment) Rules 2019 and recruitment of 72 posts of Assistant Professors under RUSA. submitted by the Higher & Technical Education Department were also approved.

To enable re-employment of ex-servicemen in the state government, the meeting approved the Mizoram Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in civil posts) Rules, 2019. Apart form this, other proposals from DP&AR - Draft Mizoram Municipal Common Cadre Service Rules 2019, Mizoram Municipal Subordinate Service Rules 2019, draft Mizoram Subordinate Service Selection Board (Recruitment and Condition of Service) Rules, 2019 and the draft Mizoram Public Service Commission (Condition of Service) Regulations, 2019 were also approved.

To ease the process for seting up of wood-based industries in the state, the council of ministers yesterday approved the Mizoram Wood Based Industries (Establishment & Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2019. The Mizoram Fisheries Conservation Rewards Scheme, 2019 and proposal to frame Mizoram Fisheries Rules, 2019 were also approved in view of developing fishery activities in the state as well as to better regulate the same. The meeting also approved the Mizoram Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishment) Bill, 2019 from the Finance Department.
