Siaha; 8th June,2021: Siaha District Committee on Green Mizoram Day met today and decided not to hold an inaugural function to mark the Green Mizoram Day 2021, amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting was presided by Shri Kesavan R, IAS, DC & Chairman, Siaha District Committee on GMD.  

After thorough  deliberation, however, it was decided that on the auspicious Green Mizoram Day,  between 7:00-8:00 a.m., the Forest Dept, MADC will distribute saplings to those offices that want to carry out sapling planting drive as per their convenience, either in their reapecrivr office frontyards or the MADC complex. The offices intending to plant saplings must report nos. of saplings required to the mobile number given below on or before 10/06/2021.

In today's meeting, it was reported that there were 496 fire incidents, ravaging 1050.05 Ha of green forest cover during 2020-2021. Also, the following 3 villages were declared as best performing villages of Siaha District, in protection of forest against wild fire and conservation of pristine forests within their jurisdiction, during 2020-2021 :

1st - Amobyu 'B'

2nd - New Laty

3rd - Khopai

Incentive cash prize and Certificate  will be awarded to prize winners as follows :- 1st prize - Rs.50,000/-  + Certificate, 2nd prize - Rs.30,000/-  + Certificate, and 3rd prize - Rs.20,000/-  + Certificate.

A brief prize awarding function will be held with a few selected invitees at DC's Office chamber, after the aforesaid prizes arrived from Aizawl. It was decided in today's meeting that 3 best performing Newspapers in regard to dissemination of Fire Prevention Awareness be also awarded during the short function and DIPRO, Siaha was entrusted with the selection task. Incentive cash prizes of Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs.1000 will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners among the newspapers.
