Aizawl, the 15th April, 2021: A meeting to discuss and monitor the progress of Van Dhan Yojana Scheme in Mizoram was held today at the office chamber of Pu C.Lalrinsanga, Minister for Cooperation, at his office chamber.

Following the guidelines laid down by the scheme, Mizoram’s Cooperation Department had organized self help groups into several Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) across the state. So far, 44 VDVKs have been successfully set up in the first phase, and 115 VDVKs in the second phase.

An initiative of the Tribal Affairs Ministry, Van Dhan Scheme was implemented in Mizoram by the Cooperation Department on 14th July, last year. The program aims to bring about sustainable livelihood for forest-based tribals by facilitating skill upgradation, capacity building including training in primary processing and primary processing facility as well as promoting value addition to minor forest produce (MFPs).
