Aizawl, the 29th October 2020 : A meeting held today afternoon under the chairmanship of Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana at SAD Conference Hall, MINECO reviewed the overall COVID-19 situation in the state and discussed modifications to the existing Discharge Protocol and the policy regarding High Risk Primary Contacts.

Dr. R. Lalthangliana pointed that existing COVID-19 protocols, policies and SOPs have to be reviewed periodically and changes need to be incorporated depending on need basis and careful monitoring of existing situations. The Health Minister mentioned that the recent increase in the number of children testing positive for COVID-19 has necessitated setting up an adequate number of Child Friendly COVID Care Centres. In this regard he stated that such a Centre has been set up under the BSUP CCC at Durtlang and another such centre at Bal Bhawan, ITI Veng is being planned he added.

The meeting discussed the proposals of the Medical Operational Team on increasing the quarantine period for COVID-19 patients discharged from treatment facilities and also for High Risk Positive Contacts. The meeting also reviewed the status of CCC within Aizawl city and noted that at present the facilities are adequate but in case of jump in positive cases more CCCs prevent overloading of existing treatment facilities.

The meeting was attended by Medical Operational Team Leader Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, MLA; Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo; DM &R Secretary Pi Lalbiaksangi; Health Secretary Pu H. Lalengmawia; Health & Family Welfare Department officials and representatives of IMA Mizoram Chapter and Non-Government Hospital Association.
