A meeting on maintenance of law and order during the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebration at Lunglei District was held on Thursday (05/12/2019)at the DC Office Chamber under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pi K. Lalrinzuali

The meeting was attended by concerned officials and representatives of NGOs. Problems likely to be faced during the festive season and suggestions for its preventive measures and solutions were discussed in the meeting. Members shared their experiences from previous years and the commendable efforts carried out by District Police and Young Mizo Association every year to ensure peaceful environment during the season were pointed out and applauded. 

The District administration had earlier issued a prohibitory order on the sale and use of firecrackers and fireworks and Pellet Toy guns within the District. The meeting decided that the order would be carried out strictly and anyone caught flouting the order would be punished as per law. The Border Security Force and the Assam Rifles have also been instructed not to issue fireworks and alcohol to civilians during this time. Lunglei SP Pu C.Lalthanmawia also informed the gathering that the District Police, in coordination with the YMA would be on duty at the YMA Duty Post in every locality during the upcoming festive season.
