Chibai.
It is with immense pleasure that I extend my warm greetings to you all on this historic occasion of Mizoram Statehood Day.
On this day, February 20, 1987, Mizoram became the 23rd state of India, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its journey of progress, peace and prosperity.
This day is a testament to the resilience, unity and aspirations of the Mizo people. It reflects the triumph of dialogue and democracy, leading to the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord between the Government of India and the Mizo National Front on 30th June, 1986, which is considered to be one of the most successful peace agreements in India’s history.
Since attaining statehood, Mizoram has made remarkable strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure and sustainable development. Our rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions and harmonious society continue to inspire the entire nation.
On this occasion, i would like to mention the Central Government's inititiave, the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' programme, which aims to enhance mutual understanding and promote integration between people of different States and UTs to foster unity in diversity. This also enhances our identity as citizens of India.
Therefore, in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, I urge all of you to learn and be curious about other’s traditions and customs in order to promote unity and integration without losing one's own cultural identity.
As we celebrate this special day, let us renew our commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Mizoram and India. Let us work together in unity, preserving our heritage while embracing progress for future generations. I also call upon everyone to respect and protect India's diversities and contribute to our shared dream of developed India i.e the Vikshit Bharat by 2047.
Thank you.
Ka lawm e.
