No.458/2020-2021
1. Dear friends, CHIBAI.
2. I bring warm greetings to all the people of Mizoram on this happy occasion of Christmas. This is our second Christmas in the beautiful State of Mizoram, and my wife and I continue to be blessed with the sincere warmth and affection of the people of Mizoram.
3. The year 2020 was a particularly difficult year for the whole world, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the prompt response by the Union of India, as well as the united efforts of the State Government and the civil society in Mizoram, have been praiseworthy. I take this moment to place on record my respect and appreciation to all the frontline workers, who have risked their own lives in our collective fight.
4. The festive season of Christmas brings with it a welcome sense of joy and love. On the occasion of Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who brought the message of love and sacrifice to the world. I believe that the correct way to celebrate Christmas would be to show kindness to others, in the same way that Jesus taught us. This Christmas, I urge all of us to be particularly vigil in finding out those around us who are needy and less fortunate, especially in view of the immense hardships brought about by the pandemic. In the true spirit of Christmas, let us try to spread joy by helping others and doing good deeds.
5. Jesus Christ also brought the message of universal brotherhood and peace. This message of unity is the need of the hour in our country, our State, and our society. We must always remember that in spite of all our difference, ultimately, we are all fellow human beings. This valuable ‘Unity in Diversity’ will continue to take India to even greater heights in the 21st Century.
6. Shortly after I assumed the office of the Governor of Mizoram last November, I visited almost all the districts, including the remotest parts. I have seen the immense potential that the State offers. I urge the people of Mizoram to make the best use of our valuable resources, in order that the State continues to grow and develop further. At the same time, I feel that we can perform even better in some areas, including the health sector. Perhaps a positive change in our lifestyle and our attitude can help us avoid a number of unwanted diseases and illnesses.
7. As we close this troubled year of 2020, I look forward to the New Year of 2021 with new hope and expectations. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has been unfortunate, we can turn it into a blessing. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has given a clarion call for ‘ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT’ or ‘Self-Reliant India’. As responsible citizens, it is our bounden duty to work to the best of our abilities for the glory of our Motherland. In the coming New Year, let us try with all our might to achieve this vision of a prosperous, flourishing and self-reliant New India.
8. On this note, I once again wish all the people of Mizoram a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
9. KA LAWM E.
