In this year’s edition of India Today’s annual report card on the performance of states in various sectors ‘State of the States Awards’, Mizoram bagged two Awards in the Small States Category. Mizoram got the awards in the Economy and Health Sectors in the category of Most Improved States amongst Small States. These Awards were received by Finance Minister Shri Lalsawta who attended the Awards Ceremony at ITC Maurya in Delhi on the 4th November.
For the last few years, India Today has been evaluating the performance of states in critical sectors and has been handing out Awards to recognize the efforts by state governments. The Awards are awarded in four main categories – Best Performing States (Big State and Small State) and Most Improved States (Big State and Small State) which are further categorized into 11 categories – Overall, Economy; Agriculture; Health; Education; Infrastructure; Inclusive Development; Law and Order; E-Governance; Entrepreneurship and Environment Category.
Most Improved States in the category of Small States who got the Awards this year are - Puducherry (Overall, Law & Order, Agriculture); Mizoram(Economy & Health); Meghalaya(Education); Arunachal Pradesh (Infrastructure); Delhi (Inclusive Development); Tripura (E-Governance) and Manipur (Environment) Best Performing States in the Category of Small States who got the Wards this year are - Goa (Overall, Health, Infrastructure); Delhi (Economy, Inclusive Development, E-Governance, Entrepreneurship); Puducherry (Agriculture, Law & Order), Sikkim(Education) and Meghalaya (Environment).
For best performing states, the performance records of 2013-14 have been considered while for most improved states, year-to-year performance improvement between 2012-13 and 2013-14 has been considered.
