Inauguration of Haulawng village,declared as the MP’s model village under the Sansad Adarsh gram Yojana (SAGY) was held on 21.10.2016 at Hausiamapa Hall at Haulawng village. Shri C.L. Ruala, Member of Parliament (LS) graced the occasion as the chief guest while Shri P.C. Lalthanliana, member of legislative Assembly elected from the constituency was the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the function as the Chief Guest Shri C.L. Ruala said that Haulawng being a village where the people and the Village Council Members are united and coordinating in efforts should set an example to others. He also said that it may be easy for the people to nullify the scheme since no separate funds are allocated for the Model Village Scheme however it is in the objective of the scheme to develop a healthy, clean and self-reliant village which was also the dream of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. He added, “without the feeling of ownership and sense of belonging there is a tendency of neglect and disrespect towards work which often affects the nature and efficiency of work. Therefore we should be mentally prepared and execute our efforts in the right attitude in order to built a more resilient and prosperous nation.” The Chief Guest also donated Rs 15 lakhs for the construction of water reservoir in the village.

Shri P.C. Lalthanliana congratulated the people for their village being selected as model village and highlighted the importance of the feeling of ownership. He said that it is also the duty of the people to strive for a clean, hygienic and self-reliant village while the Government plays its part. He also highlighted the various developmental works taken up in the village.

The inaugural function was attended by various Government functionaries and the public in large numbers. After the function a free medical camp was held atGovt.Middle Schoolunder the aegis of Health and Family welfare Department, Lunglei which was benefitted by over 400 persons. The camp provided for blood testing facility and distribution of medicines free of cost. This day proved to be a remarkable one for the Haulawng village.
