Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga in his meeting with the officials of the Home Department, Assam Rifles and BSF today, where the State Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana was also present, urged the police and armed forces to enhance security measures along the state's borders.

The Chief Minister also emphasised on the need for good and transparent coordination between Assam Rifles, BSF, Mizoram Police, the Village Level Task Force and the NGOs in order to successfully combat the threat of Covid-19 looming large.

Saying these were trying times with the pandemic Covid-19 spreading quickly across the globe, Chief Minister Zoramthanga said that the state borders must be more strictly guarded as positive Covid-19 cases have now been confirmed in all neighbouring countries and states. Security forces along the borders must make sure that no illegal trespassers/migrants secretly cross over into Mizoram, he added

In today's meeting, both the Assam Rifles and BSF, which man the international borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh respectively gave reports of their modus operandi of border vigil. Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo and Additional Chief Secretary Pu JC Ramthanga were also present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, a new shipment containing 1800 testing kits for novel coronavirus called 'Viral Transport Media' (VTM) from the Indian Council of Medical Research were flown in today by Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft. The Covid-19 test kits were received at Lengpui Airport by the Lengpui Dy. SP and straightaway despatched off to the Zoram Medical CoIIege at Falkawn.
