The Gauhati High Court, Mizoram Bench issued a judgment today in favour of the Mizoram government in the case regarding the the grouping of Taxis and the subsequent rotation of services.
Acting under the Section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 (Act No. 59 of 1988), the Mizoram government grouped the taxis into A, B and C, and ordered them to operate in rotation since December 14, 2009 to lessen the traffic flow in the city. On behalf of the taxi drivers, the case was filed against Mizoram government by Mr. SL Lalhlimpuia in opposing the government's order.
