Aizawl, the 1st May, 2025: A delegation from the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), currently on an official visit to Mizoram, to study various initiatives and challenges related to the development and welfare of Scheduled Tribes, paid a courtesy called on the Governor of Mizoram, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), at the Raj Bhavan, today.
The delegation was led by NCST Chairman Shri Antar Singh Arya and comprised Members Shri Nirupam Chakma, Dr. Asha Lakra, Shri Jatothu Hussain, along with accompanying officials.
During the courtesy meeting, the Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) commended the NCST for its proactive efforts in assessing the conditions and challenges faced by Scheduled Tribes in Mizoram. He underscored the importance of targeted welfare and development initiatives in a state like Mizoram which is inhabited almost entirely by the Scheduled Tribes.
The NCST delegation shared observations from their visit across various parts of Mizoram and discussed issues they had identified as needing attention for the state’s continued advancement. The interaction reflected a mutual commitment to enhancing the welfare and rights of Scheduled Tribes in the state.
