Aizawl; the 13th August, 2024: Today at 11:00 am, Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati visited NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology), Zuangtui, Aizawl. He was warmly welcomed by NIELIT Director Dr. T. Gunendra Singh,Faculty members and the students. The Governor visited the NIELIT building and its facilities, including the Cybersecurity Laboratory, Electronics Laboratory, and IT Laboratory.

The welcome program for the Governor was held at the NIELIT Seminar Hall, where Pu C. Zonunsanga, Scientist 'C', presented a power point presentation on NIELIT's status, achievements and future plans. Representative of Faculty members and students also spoke on the occasion.

During his visit to NIELIT, the Governor said that NIELIT has achieved significant progress in just over two decades, benefiting many people, and he was delighted to learn that the Lunglei NIELIT Extension Centre has also been established. The Governor mentioned that in the IT sector, our country has made significant progress and the Hon'ble PM Narendra Modi-led government has launched the Digital India campaign, which is being implemented vigorously. By 2047, our Prime Minister's goal is to make India a developed and prosperous country (Viksit Bharat). To achieve this, everyone needs to be digitally literate. The Governor emphasized that NIELIT has a crucial role to play in this regard.

He highlighted the impact of digital technology in healthcare, education, and agriculture. Digital technology has enabled quality healthcare services to reach remote areas through telemedicine. Our education system has also benefited from IT and electronics, especially during the Covid pandemic. The Governor stressed that IT and electronics have brought significant development, but also pose challenges like cybercrime. He acknowledged NIELIT's efforts in addressing cyber security issues and encouraged them to continue their good work.

The Governor expressed his best wishes for NIELIT's future endeavors and hoped that they would contribute significantly to making Mizoram and India a developed and prosperous nation (Viksit Mizoram and Viksit Bharat). To commemorate his visit to NIELIT, the Governor planted a fruit bearing sapling (locally called Lenhmui ) at the NIELIT campus. During his visit, NIELIT authorities submitted proposals to the Governor regarding the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory, the need for land for NIELIT's Deemed University status, and the request for recognition of NSQF-aligned certificates for LDC job applications. The Governor assured them of his support.
