Prof. F. Lalnunmawia, MLA, Vice Chairman, Horticulture Development Board yesterday inaugurated a three day (12th – 14th February, 2020) ‘Horticulture Exhibition 2020’ at Saikuti Hall in Lunglei. The event was jointly organized by Horticulture Lunglei Division and Mizoram Florist Association, Lunglei. Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng, Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman was the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were DIG Sothern Range Pu Rajneesh Gupta, SP Pu C. Lalthanmawia and other Govt officials, NGO leaders, media persons, entrepreneurs and farmers.

Congratulating the Horticulture Lunglei Division and Mizoram Florist Association, Lunglei on organizing the horticulture extravaganza, the Horticulture Development Board Vice Chairman expressed hope that the event would go a long way in motivating and encouraging the farmer and entrepreneur participants. He also stressed on the need for Mizoram farmers to adopt environment friendly farming practices, stating that indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has led to an increase in incidence of cancer and other diseases, through the toxic residues present in the grains and other edible parts of plants. 

Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng, Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman,Pu H. Manthianga, Jt Director, Horticulture Department, Dr Saidingpuii Sailo, Secretary, Mizoram Florists Association Lunglei and Dr Lalkailiani, President, Mizoram Florists Association, Aizawl also spoke at the inaugural.

The three day event had 375 horticulture items under 40 categories being exhibited with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for all categories. Mizoram Florist Association, Lunglei members and local entrepreneurs have also opened stalls at the venue.
