Dated AIzawl: the 24th March 2025 : The PHE Department and Central YMA jointly organized the World Water Day 2025 celebration on March 24, 2025, at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl. this year, The event, celebrated worldwide focused on the theme of 'Glacier Preservation'. Prof. Lalnilawma, Hon'ble Minister PHE Department graced the event as chief guest and distributed prices for the competitions organised in relation to the theme this year.

Chief Guest Prof. Lalnilawma emphasized the importance of addressing water scarcity, particularly in the face of climate change. "We're experiencing water scarcity even at the beginning of summer, and it's crucial we find solutions to this issue," Prof. Lalnilawma said. "While celebrating World Water Day is a positive step, we must prioritize water conservation in our daily lives." , Prof. Lalnilawma also highlighted the water conservation efforts in Mizoram, where the Village WATSAN Committee under PHED have been working to conserve water catchment areas in village levels. He noted that some individuals have even donated land for water conservation, totaling 65.5 tin (a traditional unit of land measurement).

World Water Day is observed annually on March 22 to promote water conservation, sustainable water management and awareness. This year, the celebration was held on March 24. In Mizoram, the grand celebration at Vanapa Hall features inaugural speech by Mrs. Teresy Vanlalhruaii, Secretary of PHED, a theme speech from Prof. Lalnuntluanga, Vice President of Central YMA, and a speech from Er. H. Duhkima, Engineer-in-Chief of PHED. The event also included competitions like Reels Making, Poetry, and Online Slogan, followed by a prize distribution ceremony. Er. Lalropuia, Director of the Project Management Unit, PHED, delivered the vote of thanks.

This year, the World Water Day celebration in Mizoram included statewide awareness campaigns, talk shows, and community cleanup initiatives at catchment areas in several villages.
