In observance of Vigilance Awareness Week (from October 29 to November 3), the Vigilance Department under the state government organized a brief function at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl on the theme "Integrity - A way of Life" yesterday. The Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga attended the function as Chief Guest with Lokayukta Chairperson Pu C. Lalsawta as guest of honour. The gathering took the pledge of integrity for citizens.

The Chief Minister in his speech said that upholding the principles of integrity is of prime importance in establishing a corruption free administration.

Lokayukta Chairperson Pu C. Lalsawta spoke of how each citizen is responsible for ensuring integrity in public administration, adding that the Whistleblowers Act provide protection for complainants.

The short function was chaired by Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo who is also the Chief Vigilance Officer. Apart from the main function in Aizawl, programmes were also held across the various district capital on the occasion.
