Mizoram Police has successfully launched an intensive operation since 28th May this year against the trafficking of drugs and other contraband items from across teh international border. The operation was carried out by 5 teams, each led by a DySP rank officer. The contraband items recovered and seized through this operation till date alongwith their local market rates are as shown below :

  a) Green Parrots    -    7 nos.
  b) Black Parrots    -    2 nos.
  c) Small Green Parrots    -    6 nos.
  d) Multi Coloured Parrots    -    20 nos.
  e) Black Cuckatoo    -    6 nos.
  f) Emu    -    3 nos.
  g) Slow lorris    -    2 nos.
  h) Owl Monkey    -    1 no.

The approximate value of all the contraband items seized during the operation amounts to Rs.2,21,61,300/- and a total of 18 criminal cases have been registered under various sections of NDPS Act/MLPA 2019/Arms Act/Foreigeners’ Act/Wildlife Protection Act. A total of 29 persons have been arrested in connection with the seizures. One Rohingya Muslim, suspected to be heavily involved in the trafficking of methamphetamine, was also identified and arrested with the help of Tripura Police. He has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC/ND&PS Act 1985 and Foreigner’s Act 1946.
