In an effort towards generating awareness and providing exposure to the underprivileged students of far flung regions of the state, 4 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Mizoram Range Assam Rifles have organized an awareness tour for 30 Mizoram Students to Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai.
Children between the age group of 14 to 18 years from all districts of Mizoram will be visiting Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai from 22 Jan 2010 to 07 Feb 2010, providing a platform for the Mizo students to experience places, interact with people and see the culture in other parts of the country. During the course of the tour the children will visit places of historic importance and meet important dignitaries at all locations.
The Tour is being flagged off from the Assam Rifles ground at Aizawl on 21 Jan by His Excellency Lt Gen MM Lakhera, PVSM,AVSM,VSM, the governor of Mizoram. The ceremony will be attended by dignitaries of the govt as well as senior officers of the Assam Rifles.
This is not the first time that the Assam Rifles is organizing such a tour. Two tours were organised to other parts of the country in the previous year also. No wonder they are called “Friends of the Hill People”.
