Aizawl The 26th April 2023: Rural Development Minister Pu Lalruakima and his team interacted with Shri AK Sai J Saravanan Kumar, Rural Development Minister of Puducherry, and his team on how the schemes under MNREGA are being implemented in Mizoram. The discussion was held at Aijal Club, Aizawl today.

Pu Lalruatkima, RD Minister, at the outset, shared his appreciation of Shri AK Sai J Saravanan Kumar, Rural Development Minister of Puducherry, and his team who visited the state to have a field study of how MGNREGA schemes are being implemented in the state.

He apprised the Minister of Puducherry and his team about some of the implementations under MNREGA in the state that may be worth replicating in Puducherry.

Pu Lalruatkima underlined the dedication of the RD officials, the good relationship between the staff and the beneficiaries, good cooperation from the beneficiaries, and the commitment of the state government to poverty alleviation in the rural areas as the reasons for successful MGNREGA implementations in the state. He also shared his commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in carrying out the implementations of the schemes and also his active involvement in monitoring.

Shri A.K. Sai J Saravanan, RD Minister, Puducherry thanked and congratulated his Counterpart of Mizoram for achieving 100% target achievement. He lauded the hard work and dynamic leadership of Pu Lalruakima for setting exemplary works at the MGNREGA implementations in the state. He also shared that there are so many positives to take from the MGNREGA implementations in Mizoram that would be desirable for implementing the schemes in his state.

The joint discussion of MGNREGA implementations in Mizoram commenced with the Presentation by Pi Irene Lalhlimpuii, Addl.Secretary (RD). After the presentation, the teams from the two states had sharing and interactive sessions.

As reported, MGNREGA is being implemented across the state within 866-gram panchayats(villages) covering 2,14,384 job card holders(presently issued numbers). At present, 2,29,685 persons in rural areas earn income under the MGNREGA schemes. Presently, 18,945 works and minor works are already being initiated. Of the total works being implemented, 13,887 works are completed with the achievement at 73.3%.
