Along with the rest of the country, the 72nd Republic Day Celebrations were held across Mizoram. At the biggest celebration at AR Lammual in Aizawl, the Governor Shri PS Sreedharan Pillai unfurled the national tricolour at 8 AM this morning amidst the ceremonial guard of honour by 5 police and paramilitary contingent.

The Governor stated, "As India marches forward, we remain committed to engaging the global community to build a secure and prosperous future for the entire humanity. The Government has been constantly striving for the complete development of every part of the country. India’s unity has been a lesson to the world in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, which pushed us to realize the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat".

The Governor acknowledged the concerted efforts of the Mizoram State Government, supplemented by the selfless service rendered by the churches, NGOs, civil society and all frontline workers which he believed was instrumental in the containment of the pandemic in our State. And proudly stated that our collective commitment and unrelenting endeavours were the reasons we have had the lowest number of coronavirus infections, the lowest fatality and one of the best recovery rates among all the States in the country. Which he felt should be something we can all be proud of.
