200/2026-2027

Dated Aizawl, the 24th June, 2026: Today, the Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC), in partnership with Drishti IAS coaching institute, officially launched the 'Free UPSC Coaching Programme' at the MYC Auditorium, MINECO, Khatla. The coaching programme was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Shri Khilli Ram Meena as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Shri Khilli Ram Meena stated that during Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah's visit to Mizoram in March 2025, he interacted with Mizoram's Civil Society Organisations to discuss various challenges faced by the state. During this interaction, it came to light that the last person from Mizoram to clear the IAS exam did so back in 2014, highlighting the remarkably low number of successful candidates from the state in the All India and Central Civil Services thereafter. Taking this matter seriously and learning from past experiences, state officials held deliberations and discussions, and eventually  designed this Free UPSC Coaching Programme and Drishti IAS, New Delhi—one of the most established and well-equipped coaching institutes in India—was selected to provide the students with the best learning experience and study materials, he said.

Encouraging the students, the Chief Secretary (CS) emphasized that there is no shortcut to success other than hard work. Therefore, he urged the students to work hard with utmost dedication under the guidance of the faculty members, keep pace with their competitors, and to always keep the fire within them alive. Furthermore, the CS stated that the Government of Mizoram stands fully ready to provide any necessary assistance to the students and for the coaching programme. Hence, he advised the students to remain focused and devote themselves wholeheartedly to their preparation without unnecessary distractions.

MYC Chairman Shri Malsawmzuala Ralte, in his address, stated that in Mizoram, the Church, the Government and NGOs are all making efforts to improve the success rate in the Central Civil Services examination. However, he reminded the students that true success can only be achieved through individual determination and hard work. Therefore,  he encouraged the students to make the best use of this opportunity and extended his best wishes for their future endeavours.

Delivering the keynote address, MYC Secretary Smt. V. Lalmuanpuii stated that many Mizo youths often abandon their aspirations of joining the Central Civil Services due to lack of financial resources and other essential requirements. Bearing in mind that investing in youth is the best kind of investment, she stated that this programme was designed under the guidance of the Chief Secretary and LESDE Department officials to open new doors for the youth.

Also speaking on the occasion, Drishti IAS Associate Vice-President Shri Georgi Mathan Ninan remarked that Mizo society upholds admirable values such as 'Tlawmngaihna' (Selflessness/ Community spirit) which are essential traits for civil servants. He assured that Drishti IAS would make every effort to help students from Mizoram to join the Central Services so that they may showcase the admirable values and culture of the Mizo people across different parts of the world.

Today's inaugural function was hosted by MYC faculty member Shri Lalremruata Tuallawt, who also delivered the welcome address and MYC Under Secretary Smt. Lalramdini delivered the vote of thanks. The event was attended by LESDE Secretary Dr. Lalhriatzuali Ralte, LESDE Director Smt. Pinky Zosangpuii, Drishti IAS Chief Content Creator Shri Neel Parmar, Drishti IAS faculty member Shri Vivek Kaushik, and other MYC officials.
