Dated Lawngtlai, 14th November 2024 : Lawngtlai District  Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had  successfully organised  a  'Mock Exercise on Floods and Landslides' here in the district today. A Mock Excercise on Landslides was carried out under the supervision of Shri.Cheemala Siva Gipal Reddy, IAS, Chairman, DDMA  at Kaladan Multi- Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP) Road and Mock Excercise on Floods  was also executed under the guidance of Shri. Daniel Sailo SDO (Civil) Chawngte, at  Bajeisora.

The Various Stakeholders for executing Mock Exercises on Landslides were -  Responsible Officer -  Deputy Commissioner, Head Observer - Project Director, Incident Commander - Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Nodal Officer - SDO (S), Site Incident Commander - Dy. Commandant, 3rd IR Battalion, Thingkah, Information Officer - DIPRO and Site Observer- CYLA.

Sequence of Events for Mock Exercise on Landslides : At 10 Am in the morning, Shri. Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy, IAS, Chairman, DDMA received a report on Landslides and immediately a loud sirens was blasted. The Chairman then informed SDRF (3rd Battalion IR,Thingkah) to perform search and rescue operations. In the meantime, Nodal Officer, DDMA and DO, DDMA examine the various equipments at DEOC Office which will be needed for the rescue operations. As per instructions, the PWD send out their JCB for clearing the debris, also Fire Truck was sent to the incidence sites. The Police then immediately performed Crowd control and Traffic Management.

At the site of the Landslide, the Shelter Management Team and DO, DDMA  erected  Medical Aid Post, Staging Area, Incident Command Post and  Base Camp.The  Incident Commander instantly directed SDRF to carry out Search and Rescue Operation (SAR). The SDRF had rescued  15 injured individuals from the Landslide areas and the Medical Team immediately carried out TRIAGE exercises. As 5 out of the 15 injured  had no serious injuries, they were released right away and the remaining 10 were administered first-aid treatment. Four of the injured individuals were rushed to the district Hospital for further treatments.

Under the supervision of Shri. Daniel Sailo, SDO (Civil) Chawngte, Mock Exercise on Floods was also successfully carried out at Bajeisora. The Sequence of events for the Mock Exercise was similar to that of landslides conducted at Lawngtlai.
