Aizawl, the 19th December, 2024: Pi Sheryl Vanchhong, the Chairman of Mizoram Rural Bank, today called on the Governor of Mizoram, Dr. Hari Babu Khambhampati, at the Raj Bhavan to discuss MRB’s activities and concerns.

In this courtesy meeting, Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati urged MRB officials to continue their efforts to ensure that the public benefits from using banks effectively, as well as to educate people further on how to use banks efficiently. He also called for the continuation of efforts to make social security schemes and loan disbursements more effective, ensuring that the benefits reach those in need without any hindrance.

Pi Sheryl Vanchhong highlighted the strong presence of MRB in rural areas and also in the state as a whole, adding that the implementation of social security schemes and efforts to educate people on efficient banking practices are also being carried out effectively. She raised the issue of opening of accounts through Aadhar authentication and Inter Operable Micro ATMs which will enable the Bank’s network of CSPs to cater to customers of all other banks. As the underlying core technology platform for enabling the two products is dependent on NPCI, the Chairman sought the assistance of the Governor in enabling MRB to go live on these products.

Pi Shery Vanchhong, Chairman of MRB, along with Pu Lallawmzuala Colney, General Manager, MRB conveyed their appreciation to the Governor for his concern and dedicated effort to uplift banking sectors. 

MRB currently has 105 branches across Mizoram, contributing round 40% of total bank branches and 73% of rural bank branches in Mizoram.
