Aizawl, the 31st January, 2022: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) programme was organized by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Champhai today at BDO's Conference Hall, Khawbung to anchor AKAM activities and by highlighting the initiatives and achievements of NABARD in Mizoram, the program was graced by Pu K. Lalhlimpuia, BDO Khawbung RD Block as the Chief Guest.

While addressing the gathering, Pu K. Lalhlimpuia appreciated the supports provided by NABARD for rural infrastructure development and and upliftment of rural farmers under agriculture and allied sectors in the state. He informed the participants that Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM) has initiated implementation of farm livelihoods intervention since 2017 and adopted a focused strategy for farm livelihoods promotion. The mission has made significant progress in mobilizing the poor and vulnerable women into their institutions. The same mission is with NABARD SHG programme, therefore MzSRLM will be supporting NABARD for development of livelihoods projects, he added. The Chief Guest urged the participants to work harder for achieving better outcome in their activities and support each other.

Also speaking on the occasion, Pi H.Lalhmachhuani, DDM, NABARD highlighted the objective of conducting the programme. The DDM highlighted NABARD’s initiatives and contribution in the state through PPT viz. various projects/programmes under RIDF, WIF, Refinance, Financial Inclusion, Tribal Development Fund, Farm Sector Promotion Fund, Off-Farm Development - OFPO, Rural Haats, Rural Marts/Mobile Mart, Institutional Development, Springshed Development, SHG linkage etc. She also emphasised on highlighting various prograame implemented in the district.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) is an initiative of Government of India to commemorate 75 years of progressive India after independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The programme was conducted as presentation on highlighting NABARD’s contribution in the state (Mizoram), the testimonial videos prepared by NABARD for AKAM were shown to the participants to showcase the works done by NABARD, also few videos on success stories of NABARD’s projects/programmes in Mizoram. The participants appreciated the videos and were encouraged by seeing various innovative activities undertaken by the rural people through NABARD’s initiatives and supports.
