Aizawl, 1st February, 2022 : Dr Renu Sharma, Chief Secretary to the Government of Mizoram yesterday issued an order lifting restrictions on import of pork and pork products until further order. The restrictions which have been imposed since 19th August, 2020 due to prevalence of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the state was lifted since the disease is now under control and there has been no new cases since December, 2021, according to the AH & Vety department, Government of Mizoram.

The order stated that the restriction have been lifted under the following conditions :

1. Repopulation may only be done after following SOP for cleaning and disinfection of the infected premises as per the National Action Plan.

2. Prior permission for import of pigs and piglets should be obtained from AH & Vety Department, Government of Mizoram.

3. Pigs and piglets should be purchased/imported only from disease free states and neighboring countries and should have soundness certificate and CSF vaccination certificate which the owner should produce to the Animal Check gate.
