Aizawl the 2nd February, 2022 : The District Level Monitoring Committee (D-MC) for Central Sector Scheme (CSS)"Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)" held its third meeting at DC Conference Hall, Lunglei yesterday The meeting chaired by Shri Kulothungan A, IAS, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, reviewed and deliberated on the strategies for implementation of the Central Sector Scheme (CSS)in Lunglei District.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, D-MC welcomed all the members and invited for proactive deliberations on the strategy for successful implementation of the Scheme in Lunglei District. He stressed on the need for better backward and forward linkages, including quality inputs, capacity building, market linkage for farmers through FPOs and advised the Cluster Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) to look into these aspects in forming and promoting the FPOs.

Pu Evan T Munsong, DDM, NABARD & Member Secretary, D-MC gave brief highlights of the Central Sector Scheme for Formation and Promotion of FPOs, and laid out the agenda items to be taken up in the meeting.

The D-MC reviewed the progress in formation and promotion of FPOs in Lunglei District. Under the scheme, Clover Organic Ltd, a CBBO of NERAMAC, and Margdarshak Development Projects and Consulting Pvt. Ltd, a CBBO of SFAC, have started forming and promoting one FPO each, viz. Vanva Dragon Fruit Producer Company and Bunghmun Farmer Producer Company, respectively, in the district. Further, a new proposal of North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA), a CBBO empaneled by NABARD, for formation and promotion of FPO was approved by the Committee.

Members of the D-MC who attended the meeting are DAO, DHO, DFDO, Veterinary Officer (AH &Vety), SMS (Soil) of KVK, CAO (Cooperation Department), MGNF, CEOs of FPOs and representatives of three CBBOs (Clover Organic Ltd, Margdarshak Ltd and NEIDA).
