Aizawl the 2nd February, 2022 : Training on 15th Finance Commission Grants & Prevention and Control of Fire for Village Councils was held for Village Council leaders within Lunglei & Hnahthial Districts by the Local Administration Department, Lunglei at their office Conference Hall from yesterday.

The training will go on till Friday (4th February 2022), and will cover a total of 145 Village Councils viz 113 VCs in Lunglei District and 32 VCs in Hnahthial District.

At her inaugural address, District Local Administration Officer, Lunglei Pi Carolyn L.B Khiangte stressed on the importance of transparency and accountability at all levels of governance, especially at the grassroots level governance that deals directly with the public and their needs. Village Council leaders need to be thorough with the guidelines under the 15th Finance Commission in order to correctly plan, implement and monitor development programmes, she added. The DLAO also encouraged the Village Council leaders to take ownership of the upcoming Fire Prevention Week (7th – 14th February, 2022) within their respective areas.

The resource persons for the training program are Pu C.Lalremchhunga, Associate Professor, Lunglei Gov't College, Pi Carolyn L.B Khiangte, DLAO & DLAO Technical Staff.
