Siaha the 29th April 2025: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Chairman Shri Antar Singh Arya and Members of the Commission visited Siaha today. The Members were received by officials at Siaha Helipad around 2:30 PM.

Felicitation event at CEM Bungalow commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Deputy Chief Executive Member (Dy CEM) of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) Shri S Lalremthanga, who greeted the Chairman and members with fervent enthusiasm. He pleaded with the Commission to give heed to the needs of the people of Siaha District and to bring forth development and advancement in the District.

Deputy Commissioner of the District Shri VL Hruaizela Khiangte also commended the Commission for their unfaltering effort for the upliftment of tribals in the country. Briefly Highlighting the profile of the district, he thanked the Commission for showing their commitment for the development of tribals and visiting the Southernmost part of Mizoram.

Shri Antar Singh Arya, Chairman of the NCST applauded Dy CEM and his colleagues for organising felicitation programme smoothly. Reiterating the fact that the main objective of NCST is development of tribals of the country in all walks of life, every effort has been taken in this regard. He stressed that the Hon’ble Prime Minister and President themselves gave profound importance for the upliftment of tribals in the country and all possible efforts will be taken to do so. He applauded the efforts of past leaders whose perseverance and dedication led to the creation of Autonomous District Council, a remarkable boon to the preservation of tradition and culture of the Mara people. He urged the gathering to work relentlessly with candour and veracity for the advancement the district. Shri Antar Singh Arya also encouraged the students who were gathered in the event to work ardently and to bear in mind they are the future leaders of the country.

The NCST Chairman planted a Cherry Blossom seedling in the name of Mother under the scheme of Hon’ble Prime Minister after which a short interaction session with various NGOs leaders and leaders from MADC and LADC followed. The NCST Chairman Shri Antar Singh Arya along with Members Dr Asha Lakra, Shri Jatothu Hussain and Shri Nirupam Chakma left the day itself for Aizawl.
