In an effort towards generating awareness and providing exposure to the underprivileged students of far flung regions of the state, 4 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Mizoram Range Assam Rifles organized an awareness tour for 30 Mizoram Students between the age group of 14 to 18 years from 21 Jan to 08 Feb 2010. The tour returned after their maiden journey to Bengaluru, Mysore, Trivandrum & Chennai on 08 Feb 2010. The children were Flagged In by Mr Zodintluanga , Minister of Sports and Youth, Mizoram today at 10 A.R Ground.
In his speech, the Minister lauded the efforts of the Assam Rifles for the initiatives taken for the over all development of the youth of Mizoram.He stressed the importance of the border states to mingle with the rest of the country.
The tour provided a platform for the Mizo students to experience new places, interact with people from the plains and see the culture in other parts of the country. During the course of the tour the children visited places of historic importance and met important dignitaries at all locations.
The tour provided an effective instrument in spreading awareness and genuine concern for the locals at the grass root level in the North East.
