Lt Gen Dalbir Singh assumes command of prestigious 3 Corps Dimapur,Mar 15: Lt Gen Dalbir Singh,AVSM,VSM takes over the reins of 3 Corps on 15 Mar 2011 from Lt Gen NK Singh,UYSM,AVSM,VSM.

The new GOC is a highly decorated Infantry officer with varied experience both in India and abroad, alumnus of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, the General Officer was commissioned into the Fourth Battalion of the Fifth Gorkha Rifles on 16 Jun 1974. The new GOC has served in various challenging assignments and has held important and enviable appointments. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Army and Nation, the officer was awarded "Vishisht Seva Medal" while commanding an Infantry Brigade and "Ati Vishisht Seva Medal" while commanding a Mountain Division. The officer carries with him the experience of fighting insurgency in India as also in Srilanka. Before taking over the present appointment, the General held the appointment of Inspector General Special Frontier Force.

 Lt Gen Dalbir Singh, GOC 3 Corps has assured maintenance of harmony between the Army, the Administration and the People. He extends his good wishes to the people of Mizoram.
