Aizawl, the 17th January 2025: Executive Director of the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Regional Office, Aizawl, Pu Virendra Kumar Jakhar, along with his team, called on the Mizoram Governor General (Dr) VK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), at Raj Bhavan this evening to present updates on NHIDCL's projects and activities in Mizoram.

During the meeting, Governor General (Dr) VK Singh mentioned how the construction of highways under NHIDCL in Mizoram plays a vital role in the state's development. He urged NHIDCL to ensure timely and high-quality completion of projects by using modern technologies. He particularly stressed the importance of the Silchar highway, which is the lifeline and urged them to prioritise this particular road. 

The Executive Director of the NHIDCL Regional Office gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining their activities in Mizoram. According to the presentation, Mizoram has a total of 1,523 km of National Highway works, of which 921 km are under NHIDCL and 602 km under the Public Works Department. Out of the NHIDCL-managed highways, 547 km have been completed, 221 km are under construction, and 153 km are in a pipeline.
