Aizawl, the 31st May 2023: Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati interacted with the heads of the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Aizawl at the Raj Bhavan, today.

At the outset, Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati stressed the importance of an institute of national importance like NIELIT in skilling the youth in the stream of IT-related education along the line of Skill India initiatives and Digital India. He also emphasized the need for IT skills for every aspirant to increase their employability and to increase their chances of securing jobs.

He asked about the annual activities of NIELIT, Aizawl and its satellite centre at Lunglei regarding the courses and programs offered at the institute, the annual intake of the students, the infrastructures, faculties, the achievements, and the issues and challenges faced by the institution.

In this connection, Shri T. Gunendra Singh, Director-in-Charge, NIELIT, Aizawl and his supporting officer gave detailed PowerPoint presentations. At the end of the presentation, Governor Dr Hari Babu suggested the NIELIT officials submit their requirements in writing which needed to be addressed early. He urged them to continue and increased their efforts in skilling as many students as the annual intake permitted them, in IT skills through their formal, non-formal, short term and long-term courses.

As per the presentation, the annual intake capacity of NIET is around 3000 plus students. The NIELIT, since its inception till date, trained 2883 students in formal, 2642 Students in non-formal and 56025 students in short-term courses.

As for the facilities, it has Cyber Forensic Lab: Equipped with the latest Cyber Forensic devices, Library: More than 8000 texts and reference books,

Computing Facility: More than 300 Computer Systems, Electronics Labs: Electronics & Communication Engg. Lab, Electronics & Electrical Workshop, Repair and Maintenance of Consumer Electronics (RMCE) Lab, Hardware & Networking Lab, Digital and Analog Electronics Lab, Medical Electronics Lab: Equipped with various equipment such as Ultrasound Machine, Shortwave Diathermy, Portable X-Ray, Machine, Patient Monitor etc and other equipment such as Patient

Simulator, Multi-parameter Simulator etc for training the trainees, Applied Sciences Labs: for Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry, Practical, Mechanical Workshop, Lecture Halls, Boys Hostel: 82 seats with 2-seater room and Girls Hostel: 51 seats with the single-seater room.
