 Mamit 13th July, 2021 : District Child Protection Unit, Women and Child Development, Mamit District in view of the Covid-19 pandemic committed for identification of children below 18 years of age who have become orphans or have lost one of their parents after March 2020. If any such children are known within Mamit District, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) or Child Welfare Committee (CWC) or CHILDLINE should be informed as soon as possible so that the CWC and DCPU will be able to ensure that the benefits announced by the Central Government/State Government could reach the children.

Further, no adoption of such children who have become orphans or have lost one of their parents due to Covid-19 should be permitted in contrary to The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 or The Adoption Regulations 2017. Moreover, any person or organizations taking advantage of the dire situation of such orphan children are prevented from collecting funds/donations in the name of the affected children. Stringent action shall be taken by the authorities against such individual or organization that is responsible for indulging in such illegal activity.
