Aizawl, the 13^th July 2021 : Pu C.Lalrinsanga, Minister for Cooperation and Agriculture today, graced the function to commemorate the 40^th foundation day of NABARD, at its Regional Office in Aizawl.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister congratulated NABARD for its dedicated service towards the nation for 39 years.  Working closely with the State Government, banks and financial institutions, NGO’s and the civil society, he said that NABARD has spearheaded financial assistance and innovations in rural Mizoram since 1989. To realize the State Government’s dream of collectivism in developmental effort on all sectors, particularly in agriculture and allied sectors, the Minister pointed out that NABARD has once again, stepped up by way of the new FPO formation programme, the newly launched AIF, providing assistance to PACS development programmes through the Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank and the Multi Service Centre for PACS with a minimal interest of just 1%.

The Minister formally released “Success Story of 17 PACS Development Cell” published by the Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank. He also flagged off a Mobile ATM Van sanctioned by NABARD for the Mizoram Rural Bank. 

Pi Lalfakzuali Leivang, General Manager, NABARD Regional Office Mizoram, presided over the celebration programme. Pu LP Lalchangkima, Convener, State Level Bankers Committee; Pu Vadde Jaya Chandra, Chairman, MRB; Pi Lalmuanpuii, Chairperson, MCAB and Pu Lalzuahliana, CEO, MRB also spoke on the occasion.

NABARD came into existence on 12 July 1982, as a Development Bank of the Nation for Fostering Rural Prosperity. It is committed towards promoting sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development through participative financial and non-financial interventions, innovations, technology and institutional development for securing prosperity. The theme of this year’s NABARD foundation day is “Development through Cooperation”
