In order to take precautionary measures and to set up rapid response force, the Mizoram Government today commenced the Medical Screening for Novel Coronavirus at Zokhawthar, an Indo-Myanmar border town located here at Champhai District.

The Medical Team comprising of Doctors and Staffs from the Health & Family Welfare Department is conducting Medical check up for travellers across the borders based on their health status and travel history. Today, the representatives from the district administration were also available at the Screening site to witness the smooth and proper conduct of the Medical Screening.

Till today, no suspect is detected and the Mizoram State Government is advising people not to believe rumours and refrain from spreading misinformation. Also at the opposite side of the border, the government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar started Medical Screening since the 27th of January, 2020.
