Dated Azawl the 26th June 2023: A one-day media workshop, Vartalap, took place at the Aijal Club in Aizawl. The agenda included an exhibition showcasing nine years of Seva Sushasan and Garib Kalyan.

Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, MLA, and Chairman of the Health and Family Welfare Board, Mizoram, who was the Chief Guest at the event expressed his appreciation for the chance to partake in an event of such profound importance.

In his address, Dr. Thiamsanga praised Prime Minister Modi's endeavors in rejuvenating the Indian economy, catapulting it to the commendable position of the world's fifth-largest within a span of nine years. He further underlined the remarkable development that North-East India, and Mizoram in particular, has experienced under the current administration. He emphasized the establishment of a highly esteemed medical college in Mizoram, as well as the anticipation surrounding future large-scale infrastructure projects.

Dr. Thiamsanga duly acknowledged that while the day's focus centered on the accomplishments of selected ministries, one cannot overlook the progress manifest across an array of sectors. He also took the opportunity to highlight Mizoram's notable achievements in diverse fields in various parameters accross the country.

Mrs. PB Lianthangpuii, Joint Director of Information and Public Relations (I&PR),who was the Guest of honor acknowledged the valuable collaboration between the I&PR, Press Information Bureau (PIB), and the Central Media Unit during her speech at today's gathering.

She expressed delight upon learning about the numerous welfare schemes implemented by the Government of India, which, she admitted, even the I&PR Department was not fully aware of as it usually is directly entrusted to the Central media agencies and also extended her gratefulness to PIB for bridging the gap.

As India rises globally, she emphasized the public's need for accurate information, highlighting the pitfalls of social media inaccuracies and calling upon mainstream media to champion truth and reliability.

Shri C Lalrambuatsaiha, The President of the Mizoram Journalists' Association also spoke at the event, emphasizing that learning is a lifelong journey, particularly for those in media. He hoped the workshop would provide a vital platform for journalists to expand their knowledge and enhance their skills.

Dr. Engam Pame, IIS Director of PIB for the Imphal Region, extended a warm welcome to the participants. He stated the primary reason for the gathering: to celebrate nine years of the pillars of governance philosophy, Seva Sushasan and Garib Kalyan and to highlight India's achievements.

Dr. Pame expressed his aspiration that the workshop, thoughtfully organized by the PIB as part of a national initiative, would serve as a catalyst for delivering commitment to shared progression and foster a sense of belonging.

Closing the morning session, P. Sophie of CBC Kohima concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks. A technical session ensued in the afternoon with resource persons from various departments enlightened the attendees of various government schemes and initiatives.

Today's meet was attended by PIB,AIR and Doordarshan staff along with members of Mizoram Journalist Association and Special invitees.
